Writing stories

How do I link to another website?

1. Copy the URL address of the site you would like to link to (e.g. http://www.google.co.nz )
2. Highlight the text you'd like to turn into a link.
3. Click the Insert/edit link button.
4. In the pop-up menu, paste the URL address of the destination site into the box title "Link URL"
5. Click Insert and you’re done.

How do I insert an image into a story?

OurFuture can host images that you contribute. Click the Upload Image button, select an image from your computer and select open.

How do I embed a video in my story?

OurFuture does not host videos but you can embed video from sites such as YouTube and Vimeo.

1. Copy the link of the video you want to insert.
2. Click the Insert embeddable media button.
3. Paste the video link into the File/URL field of the form that pops up.
4. Click Update.

Initially, your video may appear as a big yellow square -- this is normal. You can confirm the video has being properly inserted by clicking "Save Draft".

Collections

How do I create a collection?

Login to OurFuture and click the "Create a collection" link in the top-right corner of the screen. Name your collection, write a brief description and click the create button. Your collection will not appear on the public site until it contains at least one story.

How do do I add stories to one of my collections?

On each story page there is an option to add that story to any of your collections. This control is located on the right-hand side of the page beneath the map.
